We have made a mistake, and for this we apologize to Continue and the Open Source community. We genuinely want to learn from our mistakes and grow. To fix this, we made big changes, and we had them reviewed by friends in the open source space, along with a law team to ensure we did everything the right way this time. These are the changes PearAI made in attempts to correct our mistakes.

Starting Fresh and Being True Forks ๐Ÿด

We've rebuilt from scratch, starting fresh with zero stars on our new repository, leaving behind our 2k+ star repo to prioritize accountability and staying true to open source. This means our repositories accurately display true forks, marked by GitHub's built-in fork tag.

Correct Licensing ๐Ÿ“„

The fork of Continue is permanently licensed under Apache 2.0, and this will never change. View it here: License. While the VSCode fork retains its original MIT License, with details provided in the README. We've reapplied changes to ensure full compliance with the Apache 2.0 license, resolving previous code attribution issues.

Complete Transparency ๐Ÿ”Ž

We aim for complete transparency, making sure that everyone understands that our pearai-submodule repository is a fork of Continue (Continue GitHub), This is an important part of our current functionality. In the future, we plan to diverge and innovate further, working towards creating the best AI-powered code editor.

Once again, we apologize to Continue and the open source community. We encourage everyone to explore the incredible work being done by the Continue team (Continue GitHub). We hope to learn from our mistakes, and move forward responsibly. We will be continuing with our original plan of differentiating from Continue and other competitors, to simply provide the best AI-powered code editor and allow users to make what they want.
